A Similar Mission

From growing a business
to increasing productivity and staying on top of future trends, being a
business executive isn’t for the faint of heart. Walking into a room full of
people who empathize and understand what it takes to succeed can be reassuring.
For many businesses, being part of a local Chamber of Commerce is that room
full of understanding peers as well as a great way to network and show support
for the community.

Better Business Bureau has partnered with local Chambers of
Commerce for over 25 years. BBB Northwest and Pacific CEO and President, Tyler
Andrew explains the importance of this partnership, “BBB supports local
businesses. Being in partnerships with Chamber of Commerce’s helps us engage
and network with companies, to hear of their needs and successes.”

For local chambers such as the Idaho Falls Greater Chamber
of Commerce, partnering with BBB makes sense. “We have similar missions, we
both want businesses to thrive in our community and to represent the high
values set by our community,” explains Chamber CEO Chip Schwarze.  “By partnering together, we magnify our
efforts and ensure that we help as many businesses as we can.”

The Idaho Falls Chamber, like many others, promotes ideals
aimed at making its community great.  It focuses
on providing opportunities to meet other business leaders, working with state
and local governments to improve the environment for conducting business, and
helping businesses succeed through educational opportunities.  Schwarze says, “no matter what business you
are in, your chamber is doing something to enable your success.”

It's also about understanding the needs of the businesses
they serve. In Idaho Falls, workforce continues to be a huge hurdle for
businesses.  That’s why the chamber
supports local labor force development programs.  They also promote the region to potential
workers, encouraging them to come, find careers and stay.

For many businesses, chamber events are a simple way to
promote their business and network. Whether that’s introducing their company to
the group or explaining what they offer to their peers. For both businesses and
BBB, interacting with other organizations helps you be better.  One Idaho Falls Chamber event they’ve seen
great success with is their CEO Speaker Series. 
 This is Schwarze’s favorite
event, “the one-on-one interview format with leaders of our business community
is such a great format.”  Schwarze says
everyone can learn from these CEO’s experiences and personal stories. “There
are some incredible leaders in our area that are so willing to share their time
and talents with others.”

From events to simple support, both local chambers and
Better Business Bureau are behind local companies’ path to success.  BBB’s Andrew adds, “BBB has had a longstanding
relationship with local chambers, and we plan to continue to support their
efforts in the business community.”  This
partnership will continue for years to come, as both show local companies there
are organizations working to help them grow and evolve.
