Editor’s Note: Your Better Business Bureau is proud to work with charities of all shapes and sizes. In an effort to share their message, we will be spotlighting a BBB Accredited Charity each month.
The Children’s Cancer Association provides free of charge programs that leverage music, friendship, play and resources to create transformative moments of joy for seriously ill children and their families. For more than 20 years CCA’s programs of “JoyRx” have helped children and their families find moments of joy in a truly stressful time.
The CCA volunteers play games, listen to and make music and provide companionship for kids and teenagers. These relationships give comfort during treatment and hospital stays for kids and provide important breaks for their family members. The organization focuses on the support systems that help kids be kids when they need more than just medicine.
Another thing that sets them apart from other charities, is that the they havemet BBB’s rigorous 20 standards of charity accountability, which include financial disclosures, board governance and advertising and fundraising reviews. This accreditation provides essential reassurance to donors that charities are making an impact in their fields and participating in an ethical marketplace.
“The BBB Charity Accreditation positively impacts the way our savvy donors, investors and volunteers continue to validate our credibility and strong business practices,” Regina Ellis, the Children's Cancer Association CEO said. “ We’re proud to be part of the BBB Family, and value the excellent standing and transparency we have earned.” To learn more about the Children’s Cancer Association, visit joyrx.org.
